Geoffrey M. Michel

Born and raised in the River Parishes, Geoffrey Michel is a 2007 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. He obtained his Juris Doctorate degree in 2010 from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Upon admission to the bar in October of 2010, he was offered and accepted a position as a judicial law clerk in the Fortieth Judicial District for the Honorable Mary Hotard Becnel.  During his time as a law clerk, he researched civil and criminal matters as well as drafted rulings, judgments, orders, and opinions.   

At the conclusion of his term, a judicial law clerk, Mr. Michel accepted a position with the Fortieth Judicial District Attorney’s Office. During his tenure with the office, which lasted over ten years, Mr. Michel held the title of Chief of Misdemeanors before transitioning to a felony prosecutor in Division B, where he handled all types of felony cases, including the successful prosecution of multiple cases resulting in life sentences. In addition to his criminal trial work, he defended the convictions by working on criminal appeals and post-conviction relief pleadings.  In addition to his criminal work, he also served as legal counsel to the Parish Council, Parish President, and School Board. 

In 2015, Mr. Michel opened his own law practice, focusing on personal injury and successions. 

Mr. Michel is admitted to practice before the Louisiana Supreme Court, US Fifth Circuit Cour of Appeals and the United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute.
